Krui South Sumatra Surf Guide

Krui is fast becoming the "in" spot in Indonesia. People turned off by the massive development on Bali are quickly finding out about all South Sumatra has to offer. Located 6 hours drive from Bandar Lampung Domestic Airport, Krui has the waves and the vibe to make it the next big indo destination to visit. With the Krui airport scheduled to be completed in 2010, the time is ticking on this pristine jungle town and how long it has left to be considered "off the beaten path."

To get to Krui, fly into Jakarta International and then take a small domestic flight into Bandar Lampung. You can take the public bus from here to Krui after taking a cab to the bus station but it is reccommended that you book with one of the surf camps in the south to come and get you. That way, you'll have someone waiting for you at the gate to help you out to take you to the surf camp.

You can choose to stay in Krui proper or just a bit farther south at Karang Nyimbor. Karang is by far the most well known wave in the area and has the most accommodation.
